Body found in Tamworth's Castle Grounds

A body has been found in the grounds of Tamworth Castle.

Emergency services were called to the Castle Grounds on Saturday morning at around 6am.

Police officers and paramedics attended, but nothing could be done and a man was confirmed dead at the scene.

Police say the man's death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called shortly after 6am on Saturday, April 18, to the grounds at Tamworth Castle.

"A man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be prepared for the coroner."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We were called at 6.11am on Saturday to reports of a medical emergency in the Castle Grounds, Tamworth.

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man. Sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
