DPD worker stole goods worth £7,000 from warehouse amid gambling addiction

A DPD worker who had become 'immersed in a spiral of debt and gambling' stole goods worth up to £7,000 from his employer.

Dudley Magistrates Court heard amongst the items Gareth Weston was caught taking on CCTV at DPD UK, was two Emma Holland earrings, an iPhone 13 and Samsung 23 smartphones.

The offences happened between May 2 and 19 this year when it was realised that high-value goods were going missing from the warehouse in Smethwick.

During an internal investigation, Weston was seen on CCTV putting the package in a locker in the cleaning area and then transferring them into a white bag.
