Brandhall Primary School say one of the school's smaller bubble groups is affected – fewer than 20 children.

The case was confirmed at the Oldbury school earlier this week, but the date has not been confirmed.

A spokesman for Brandhall Primary School said: “Some of our children and staff are self-isolating at home following one positive case of Covid-19 in our school community this week. This affects one of our smaller ‘bubble’ groups – fewer than 20 children.

More Covid-19 coverage:

“We are following all the guidance to help prevent the spread of infection to others. This is unconnected to a previous positive case – and pupils and staff who had been self-isolating as a result of that case have now returned to school.

“We have robust infection control measures in place at the school and we are following all appropriate safety guidelines.

“We continue to work closely with Public Health England and the council to keep children and staff safe, reduce the risk of transmission and keep the impact on children’s education to a minimum.

“We are keeping parents and carers updated.”
