The cordon has been set up around Maypole Fields in Cradley in Halesowen, with multiple police officers seen in and around the area on Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 1am, with an Audi reported to have been shot at and rammed by a Nissan Qashqai, with damage caused to the vehicle, but no one injured.

The road was closed in both directions due to the incident, with the entrances at Saltbrook Road and Maypole Hill closed and diversions in place.

Officers from West Midlands Police have been receiving CCTV footage and making enquiries around the area, while confirming that it believed that the incident was a targeted attack.

Residents living in the area were surprised to hear there had been a shooting on their street, but said they weren't overly worried as it felt like an isolated incident.

One resident said: "The first I heard was when I went out to walk the dog and saw the drive cordoned off with police tape, then found out later on about what had happened.

"I'm a little bit surprised it's happened, but I'm not worried as I've lived here since October and found it to be a quiet area, so I feel safe."

Another resident said: "I'm a bit concerned about it as I have a daughter, but it's also the first time in six years that anything like this has happened.

"It's more interesting for my daughter, as she's seven years old and really inquisitive, so she wants to know what's going on and the police had a good chat with her about it."

The force has asked for anyone with any information to get in touch as soon as possible through Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website or by calling 101.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We're investigating after shots were fired at a car in Dudley in the early hours of this morning.

"We were called to a report that an Audi had been shot at and rammed by a Nissan Qashqai at Maypole Fields, Halesowen just before 1am.

"Damage was caused to the vehicle but fortunately no one was injured.

"We believe this was a targeted attack, but we do not underestimate the fear and alarm this will have caused.
