All lanes reopen on M5 after emergency works to repair infrastructure defect

All lanes have reopened on the M5 following closures caused by an infrastructure defect.

National Highways reported the incident on the northbound carriageway, between Junction 4 for Bromsgrove and Junction 3 for Halesowen/Quinton, at 1.16pm on Saturday.

Two lanes were closed as highways crew worked at the scene to assess and repair the damage.

Motorists were faced with delays of about 45 minutes, with three miles of congestion reported on approach to the incident.

National Highways confirmed at 2.30pm that all lanes had reopened and warned of residual delays of 20 minutes.
