One lane was closed southbound between Junctions 4a and 5, with emergency services in attendance.
There were delays of 20 minutes and two miles of congestion, highways bosses said. The incident had cleared by 2pm.
Lane 1 is CLOSED on the #M5 southbound between J4A and J5 near #Bromsgrove due to a multi vehicle collision.
