Family pay tribute to Wolverhampton father who died after car hit tree

The devastated family of a Wolverhampton father who died after his car hit a tree have said his 'energy and enthusiasm could light up any room'.

Stephen Mahay was killed when his Seat Ibiza hit a tree in Linden Road, Bourneville, in the early hours of Sunday( morning.

The 27-year-old suffered serious injuries in the crash shortly before 3.50am and was pronounced dead soon after his arrival at hospital.

In a statement, his family said: "Stephen was a much-loved son, brother, cousin, nephew, friend and father.

"His energy and enthusiasm could light up any room.

"He was always coming up with ideas and advice, many people were blessed with his presence and will miss him terribly.

"He was recently baptised and working out his plans for his life.

"We ask for privacy at this time and request no flowers instead if people would like to make charitable donations."

West Midlands Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the crash and is continuing to appeal for witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101, quoting incident log number 460 of June 30.
