Four-year-old Ben Stephens completed a 100-lap fundraising run around the back garden of his home in Finchfield.

Ben did the run dressed as some of his favourite superheroes, such as Batman, to raise funds for the NHS, a service a number of members of his family work for.

His mum Jodie said Ben came up with the idea to do the run after being inspired by Colonel Tom Moore and spoke of the family's pride at what he had achieved.

She said: "We've got a lot of family members who work for West Midlands ambulance service or on the front line for the NHS in one form or another.

"They're all incredibly proud of him doing the run and seeing it through to the end."

Jodie said Ben has raised more than £630 for the NHS, with sponsorship coming in from friends, family and well-wishers, having started by being sponsored for 1p per lap.

She also hoped he could inspire young people to learn and take on challenges like the one he had just completed.

She said: "I've shared this with people all over the community to let them know that children can learn so much from doing challenges like Ben's.

"Ben doesn't always find it easy to pick up things and he can flitter, but this was a good way for him to focus and learn about the things most important to him.

"When the TV were talking about Corporal Tom Moore, he actually thought they were talking about his efforts!"

Ben said he liked running as his favourite super hero Batman because he could fly and was the fastest and said his work was "Awful a good cause".
