Santokh Doal, from West Bromwich, was arrested last summer after dealing drugs across the West Midlands.

Tens of thousands of pounds were found during raids at properties in West Moorland Road and Spon Lane, both West Bromwich, along with more than £20,000 worth of cocaine.

West Midlands Police proved that large wads of cash, cars and a £14,000 Rolex Kermit watch were linked to the Class A supply chain run by Doal.

The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to possession of Class A drugs and was sentenced to nine years and nine months behind bars at Wolverhampton Crown Court in August 2020.

Officers from the Economic Crime Unit then began the process of looking to recover cash or assets which were a result of his illegal empire which included either renting or owning three properties and having two cars.

Investigators proved he benefited by just over £200,000 from his activities of which £94,000 of assets were immediately available.

At a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing Doal was ordered to pay back £94,000 in three months or face an extra two years in prison.

He remains in debt for the remainder of the money and finance investigators will seize any cash or assets he comes into in the future until the sum is repaid.

Detective Constable Rob Gough, from the force’s financial investigation unit, said: “Drugs are a scourge on our society; they not only ruin lives but can be lead to other crimes.

“Even though Doal was jailed we were determined he should never be able to benefit from his ‘dirty money’ in future. We will always seek to ensure crime doesn’t pay.”

Money obtained through the Proceeds of Crime Act is put back into communities or towards policing with a view to protecting the public.
