Police warning after women spotted 'acting suspiciously' around young children in Stafford

Parents in Stafford have been urged to remain "calm and vigilant" after a number of suspicious incidents involving strange behaviour towards children.

Officers are investigating several incidents in shopping areas of the town.

It comes after at 1.15pm on Saturday, two women approached two young children with their mother outside B&M at the Kingsmead Retail Park in Stafford. The mother said the women's behaviour was suspicious.

Further calls to the police have described a group of men and women behaving suspiciously around young families.

Local neighbourhood officers will be carrying out high-visibility patrols in the area.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "We advise parents to remain calm and vigilant. Continue to take normal, sensible precautions and if you do see anything suspicious report it to police by calling 101 or, in an emergency, 999."
