Graffiti has been painted on the outside of one of the bird hides at Doxey Marshes nature reserve.

It comes after the trust reported a surge in fly tipping and fires being started on its sites during lockdown.

Jeff Sim, senior conservation manager for the trust, said: "Our team of volunteers had only recently tidied up the bird hides before the lockdown, so we are especially disappointed for them that this has happened.

"Our charity's conservation staff are also dealing with an increase in fly tipping and anti-social behaviour on some of our reserves during the lockdown.

"We encourage anyone seeing any suspicious behaviour to phone Staffs Police on 101 asap. We will get the bird hides re-painted as soon as we can, once lockdown restrictions allow us to restart our volunteer work parties."
