Three masked men forced their way into the address in Croft Lane, Low Hill, around 6.15pm yesterday.

A 79-year-old man was threatened with an iron bar while a 75-year-old woman was held down as her gold necklace was taken.

She suffered a minor cut to her arm as the burglars fled with the jewellery.

CCTV has been recovered as inquiries are under way to trace those responsible for the burglary near the Otter and Vixen pub.

Detective Constable Sarah Forster, from force CID, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims and we're determined to find those involved.

"I would urge anybody who has information, or has been offered a gold necklace for sale, to let us know as soon as possible."
