Michael Williams, 34, and Jessica Waldron, 33, both of Buxton Road, Holly Hall, Dudley, were arrested at Heathrow Airport after arriving on a flight from Bogota, Colombia.

A large batch of cocaine allegedly smuggled by the pair was seized which, according to the National Crime Agency, would have a street value of more than £2 million.

Airport employee Junaed Ghani Dar, 41, from Slough, Berkshire, was also arrested by the agency at Terminal 2 on Saturday.

All three have now been charged with attempting to import class A drugs.

They appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates Court this morning where they were remanded in custody until their next court appearance at Isleworth Crown Court on January 16.

NCA branch commander Steve McIntyre said: “Class A drugs fuel violence and exploitation in our communities. Stopping them reaching the streets is a top priority.

“This was a sizeable seizure, likely worth in excess of £2 million at UK prices once cut and distributed.

“We will continue to work with our partners to target and disrupt the criminal networks involved in drug trafficking. This seizure demonstrates how we can do that.”
