Julia Rawson murder probe continues with police search in Tipton

An area of Tipton was cordoned off as police searched for evidence relating to Julia Rawson's murder.

Ms Rawson was found dead near an industrial estate in the town on June 12 after disappearing from her home in Green Park Road, in the Kates Hill area of Dudley, on May 12.

Two men have been charged with her murder but on Monday police were still searching for evidence at Coneygre Playing Fields, off Sedgley Road East, on Monday evening.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "Police cordoned off and searched an area near to Sedgley Road East, Tipton, as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Julia Rawson."

The force spent two weeks hunting for clues relating to the former market trader's disappearance, including searching a canal, before discovering her body three weeks ago.

Accused of Ms Rawson's murder and awaiting trial are Maynard-Ellis, aged 28, from Mission Drive, in Dudley Port, Tipton, and David Leesley, aged 23, from Dereton Close, Russells Hall.
