Kyle Williams, aged 21, was spotted in Broad Street, Birmingham, by police in the early hours of November 17.

He tried to get away and rammed a police car - causing extensive damage - but was caught by officers.

Police found cash and personal belongings inside his car. The had been taken from an address on Bella Pais Close, Walsall, at around 5.50pm the previous day. Officers also found cocaine and cannabis.

He was driving a stolen Ford Focus which was also linked to burglaries in Great Barr.

Williams, of Firbeck Road, Kingstanding, was convicted of two counts of burglary, dangerous driving, handling stolen goods and possession of drugs. He was sentenced to four years on May 9.

Detective Nicola Williams said: "Williams put lives - including our own officers - at risk through his reckless behaviour behind the wheel.

"He was involved in two burglaries less than 12 hours beforehand and without our intervention he could well have struck again."
