Woman charged with wounding over Birmingham city centre attack

A woman has been charged after a Birmingham city centre attack that has left another woman fighting for her life.

It is alleged that Savannah Ward attacked the 20-year-old victim in Bull Street on Wednesday, May 1.

The victim suffered a serious head injury and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Ward, aged 22 and of no fixed address, was arrested by West Midlands Police officers on May 5 and appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court the following day charged with wounding. She was remanded in prison until her next court appearance.

A 19-year-old woman has also been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Inspector Vanessa Eyles, from the force CID team, said: "Although somebody has been charged, I am still really keen to speak to anyone who has any information or witnessed the disorder last Wednesday evening to get in touch."
