Murder investigation launched after woman found with serious head injuries

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found with serious head injuries at an address in Birmingham.

The 44-year-old was found by police in Albert Road, Handsworth, on Wednesday, after officers were called to a report of a domestic incident just after 11am.

The woman was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead last night.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and has been released on police bail.

Homicide detectives are urging anyone who was in the vicinity of Albert Road overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday to get in touch. They are keen to know whether anyone saw a woman with a head injury or witnessed any kind of disorder on the night in question.

The body of the woman has not yet been formally identified, but next of kin have been informed and are being supported at this time.
