Police officer suffers fractured hand after car rammed by wanted man

Police are hunting a man who is wanted after he injured officers by ramming their police car.

Two officers who were searching for 22-year-old Shayne Thomas suffered whiplash, with one suffering hand fractures after the incident.

Thomas, from Weoley Castle in Birmingham, was spotted by the two officers on Princethorpe Road in Weoley Castle on Christmas Eve.

The 22-year-old rammed their car to get away, injuring the officers in the process.

He is wanted on suspicion of blackmail, making threats to kill and for a assault that took place in Bartley Green on November 10.

Police have confirmed that Thomas, of no fixed address, has links to Kingstanding.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Anyone who knows where Shayne is staying should contact police via Live Chat at www.west-midlands.police.uk 8am-midnight or call 101.
