Smethwick murder victim named as Gurmukh Singh

A pensioner murdered in Smethwick has been named as 70-year-old Gurmukh Singh.

Mr Singh's identity was confirmed as his alleged killer appeared in court yesterday.

Mr Singh died in hospital after being found with injuries at a property on White Road at around 2.45pm on Friday.

A post-mortem conducted on Saturday revealed he died as a result of blunt force injury.

Alleged murderer Palvinder Hayre is from White Road, where Mr Singh was found

Palvinder Hayre, aged 50 and of White Road, Smethwick, appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court yesterday charged with murder.

He was due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court today.

Meanwhile West Midlands Police is still appealing for the public’s help regarding Mr Singh's death.
