Unprovoked gang attack leaves man injured

A man was knocked to the ground and assaulted in what is believed to have been an unprovoked attack in Stafford.

The 26-year-old man was injured in the attack which happened at the junction of Gaolgate Street and North Walls at around 2.20am on Saturday.

The group of men were then seen near the town's Sainsbury’s, where they remained for an hour before being picked up in a taxi.

The victim's injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing.

Staffordshire Police are investigating the incident and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

They are particularly interested to hear from any taxi drivers that may have picked anyone up near Sainsbury’s.
