Man from Wolverhampton killed in Southampton named as 26-year-old Courtney Jones

A man from the Black Country who was killed at a home in Southampton has been named as Courtney Jones.

The 26-year-old, who was due to become a father for the first time, has been described as 'the most loving and loyal person you could meet' by his devastated family.

He lived in Sheffield, South Yorkshire at the time of his death, but was originally from the Wolverhampton area, police said.

In a tribute, his family said: "Courtney was the most loving and loyal person you could meet. He was free spirited and kind and was very much looking forward to becoming a dad.

"He was also a fantastic step dad and partner to his girlfriend. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

"This tragic loss has affected his family deeply. A bright shining light of goodness has sadly left this world."

Mr Jones died after being attacked at a house in Totton at about 7.45pm on Saturday.

Today police charged 19-year-old Charlie George Thomas Cooper of Ashby Road, Totton, with murder.

He appeared before Southampton Magistrates this morning (Wednesday).

A 26-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of murder and suffered a medical episode after he was arrested, remains in hospital.

A 42-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have since been released from police custody but remain under investigation.
