A 39-year-old man was seriously injured when he was stabbed several times in the abdomen in the town centre last Wednesday.

And officers have now launched an appeal to identify the man pictured, who they say may hold 'vital information' regarding the attack.

The man was stabbed shortly before 1.30pm on Owen Street.

Police have not been able to confirm where exactly on the busy shopping street the attack took place.

Pc Daniel Cartwright from West Midlands Police CID, said: "This was a particularly nasty attack which took place in broad daylight.

"I believe there would have been people doing their shopping in the area or driving past at the time it happened.

"I would urge anyone who saw anything to get in touch with me."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting crime reference 20SW/168502B/18. Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
