A West Midlands Fire Service spokeswoman said they received 11 calls in total just after 5pm.
The burning BMW blocked the slip road into West Bromwich as two fire crews tackled the blaze. The stop message was received shortly before 6pm.
Nobody was injured in the blaze which is believed to have started in the passenger compartment of the car.
One crew from Walsall fire station remained after the fire was extinguished to ensure the fire was out.
