Officers were called to Bromford Bridge in Bromford Lane, in Oldbury, just before 11am yesterday.

Detectives arrived with firefighters to recover the body from the scene, near to the Sandwell and Dudley railway station, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Officers remained for several hours to investigate, turning boats and users of the towpath away from underneath the bridge.

The bridge is near to industrial units, although workers said they knew nothing of the circumstances of the death.

Last night, police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and had been passed onto coroners.
