Ettingshall councillor Beverley Momenabadi and world champion bodybuilder Daniel Jay Smith Jr spent a day travelling around Wolverhampton to take presents to families who had been hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic.

Daniel, who has been supporting the work of Excel Church in Bilston as a volunteer dressed as Santa to help bring some cheer to children.

He said: “It was magical to see the faces of the children light up when we left the presents at the doorstep.

"It was a little bit different for them this year as they had to stay socially-distanced from Santa but we managed to spread some Christmas joy.”

The present drop was organised by councillor Momenabadi, who went straight from her shift testing people at the Wolverhampton Civic Centre to delivering presents with Daniel.

She said she had received donations from people attending her gym in Wolverhampton, as well as receiving a large selection of toys from the Sikh Toy Appeal.

There was a concerted effort by residents in Ettingshall to wrap the presents ahead of the delivery, with one resident, Julie Farrell, wrapping 60 presents.
