The four-piece have been busy in the studio with acclaimed producer Russ Russell (Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Napalm Death, Machine Head) and will release Widowmaker on February 28 via their own imprint.

The heavy metal/psychedelic band are made up of Karl Slater, Tom Wilson, Sandy Stanton and Daniel Jennings and formed in Stafford in 2015.

On the recommendation of friend and producer Owen Davies they sent their 2017 debut album Holy Mountain to Russell, and "didn't think anything would come of it". But Slater said: "He messaged me back almost immediately saying that he loved it and wanted to work with us.

"We started recording the album mid-2019. Russ seemed to really enjoy what we were doing and even performed synth keyboard on our track Large Magellanic Cloud, along with setting up the samples we'd selected. The recording process was amazing."

Widowmaker will be available from the band's website www.thosesnakes.bandcamp.com and will also be available on Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, Deezer, iTunes and YouTube Music.

And Slater adds: "To celebrate the release of our second album we will putting on a gig at Redrum on February 29 with support from some of our friends. The album will be available for purchase on the night and tickets will include entrance to the after party.

"For the rest of the year we will have our sights set on playing some festivals, a UK tour in April and a US tour in September."

The launch show will be in Stafford's Redrum on February 29. The event has its own Facebook page, where ticket details will be made available. They are also performing there before that on January 31 supporting Raging Speedhorn and Dessert Storm. Tickets for that show, costing £13.20, are available from SeeTickets.
