Thomas Forrester, of Bargain Hunt fame, has taken over the former Aston's Auctioneers in Dudley

Thomas Forrester and his company Special Auction Services (SAS) have purchased Aston’s Auctioneers in Dudley, adding to their current auction home in Newbury in Berkshire.

Mr Forrester, who has appeared on antiques programmes such as Bargain Hunt, Antiques Road Trip and Flog it for more than 20 years, said he and SAS made the decision to purchase Aston’s after hearing of its closure.

He said: “SAS has a very similar business to Aston’s so we always had a friendly rivalry with them.”

Mr Forrester said the new house at Baylies Hall on Tower Street would help him to become more involved in the community, having moved to the Staffordshire countryside following his marriage to Jessica.

The 45-year-old said SAS would begin doing an online auction each month, starting on January 28 with an antiques and collectables auction.
