Red-hot Hotshots hit form to send the Cons packing

Hotshots SC are setting the early pace at the top of the Staffs & West Midlands League after outgunning their latest opponents.

The reigning champions hit form to secure a 5-0 whitewash against Wednesfield Cons B.

Bal Sembi pocketed the highest break of the night, with a run of 58, while Jamie Brown knocked in a 43. Callum Downing (39 and 38), Neil Beckley and Mark Sutton were the other winners.

Willenhall Liberal A also chalked up a 5-0 win – away to Smethwick Labour Club.

Simon Gough, Nathan Wood Andy Price and Lee Bannister had sealed the match before Adrian Rosa rolled in a break of 62 in the final frame.

Shifnal Wm A picked up a win this week as they won 4-1 away at Woodfield B with Matthew Davies the standout performer on the night as he hit breaks of 42 and 40 to set his side on their way to victory. Matthews win was followed up by wins for teammates Mick Brezwyn, Ian Duffy and Mike Dorey with the hosts sole reply coming through Ed Jennings in the final frame.

Woodfield A were in good form, picking up a 4-1 win at Stafford Institute A to stay second. Riley Parsons, Scott Tapper, Chris Jones, with a break of 46, and Jim Woodhouse did the damage for the visitors. Matt Hyden bagged a consolation for the hosts, aided by a break of 40.

Landywood SC B lead the way in Division Two following a 3-2 home success over Bilston BC B.

Michael Hodgkiss, Paul Burgin and Darren Gibbons saw the hosts home.

Stafford Institute B eased past hosts Poets Corner, 4-1, thanks to Alan Sim, Paul Edwards, Malcolm Wharne and Stuart Jones.

Division Three table-toppers Golden Cue B continued their impressive start to the season with Adrian Holmes, Scott Smith, Ryan Hamilton, Stephen Platt and Liam Jones firing them to a 5-0 home win over Essington WMC A.

Bloxwich Sports Club still boast a perfect record thanks to a hard-fought 3-2 home win against Charlemont BC B.

Keith Poston took the opener for the hosts before Neil Gould beat Daniel Hartley on the last black to put them 2-0 up. Bloxwich made sure of the win in the next frame through Leon Tranter.

Sedgley Ex Service D picked up their first league victory, beat Coseley Ex Service A 3-2 at home. Mark Darby, Adam Hartshorn and Steve Lee were the men on the mark.

Division Four outfit Bushbury Grid are 100 per cent for the season so far.

Their latest triumph came at Essington WMC B, where victories from Paul Wakeman, Daniel Boucher and Darren Shirley saw them home, 3-2.

Woodfield E beat visiting Golden Cue C 5-0 and Bentley Moor moved up the table after sinking leaders Jds A 4-1.

Golden Cue D lead the way in Division Five after making it four wins from four games.

The Royal were the latest side to be swept aside as Martin Edmunds, Tom Darby, Murti Ram and John Jeavons steered Cue to a 4-1 triumph.

Coseley Ex Service B made home advantage count to edge out Jd’s B 3-2. while Golden Cue E powered to a 5-0 win at Essington WMC C.
