Nuno: Happy with result but not the same without Wolves fans

Nuno Espirito Santo is happy with the performance Wolves put in to beat West Ham 2-0 – but admits football is far less enjoyable without fans.

Nuno's charges began the behind-closed-doors Premier League era by picking up three points at the London Stadium, with second-half substitutes Adama Traore and Pedro Neto making the difference.

Traore set up Raul Jimenez as Wolves broke the deadlock and Neto made sure of the win with a stunning volley.

But Nuno is not a huge fan of playing in empty grounds as he said: "Football is not enjoyable without the fans in the stadium, so we have to perform for the people back home.

"Hopefully, we can go back to what it was before as without fans, it has no meaning at all.

"I'm happy with the performance of the players and they finished the game strong and healthy. But football is meant to be enjoyed by fans and everybody."

Wolves, though, certainly made those watching on from home proud.

They are sitting pretty in sixth as they push for European football again, and Nuno said on the display: "The performance was good.

"In the first half, we were organised. We didn't finish too many actions but we kept West Ham - a good team with good players - away from our goal.

"In the second half, we started and introduced some speed. We were more accurate and were able to create more danger."

Up next for Wolves is a clash with Bournemouth at Molineux on Wednesday, and Nuno added: "Three months without games is very difficult, and only three weeks of training as a group.

"It's very difficult for everybody and we have a long way to improve.

"We have a long way to go – eight games to go. Bournemouth will be tough.

"It's a new football and a new start for us."
