Reaction to the Result

Two points dropped for a Wolves side that lacked any real penetration or imagination. The game was very stop-start much to Newcastle’s delight, but Wolves were too one dimensional. Wolves had their chances but were denied by MOTM Martin Dubravka, and turned to a LWB to change the game. If that doesn’t scream we need players, then I don’t know what will.

Man of the Match

Adama Traore yet again roasted another Premier League full-back for fun. He showed some superb deliveries too. He’s the only one who took the game by the scruff of the neck.

Something to Improve

Fosun, this is your chance to really show your ambition. Kevin Thelwell, this is where you earn your stripes. Wolves need players – and quick.

Reaction to the Result

Had either of our two close-range headers gone in we'd have been happy, and probably seen a better game too. Against a negative team lacking ambition beyond a point it was clearly frustrating we did not take all three points. It was exactly the same in our game at St James' Park.

Man of the Match

Several players were too passive throughout. Our front three all had positive moments but equally wasted chances to secure the points. Coady and Saiss looked dependable at the back when briefly tested.

Something to Improve

Starting home games on the front foot, and taking the lead, would make for a much better game. Lacking options from the bench is, not for the first time, an obvious observation.

Reaction to the Result

Obviously not the result everyone would have liked but with very limited options on the bench, it was difficult for Nuno to change too much as the game progressed. We had the better of the chances for sure, Dubravka made two class saves but there were other times when we could have done a lot more with certain opportunities. Too many times we were just going wide, mainly to Traore and expecting him to produce some magic but there’s too much risk in that and also when we’re constantly crossing it when Newcastle had a lot of players deep, we weren’t giving ourselves much chance to score.

Man of the Match

Moutinho was involved in a lot for us on and off the ball, and in the second half he was the main reason for us getting attacks with his tenacity and calmness on the ball. However, some other players were making errors or rushing situations causing us to lose the ball.

Something to Improve

Our squad depth. It’s obvious to see we need some additions this month because our bench was lacklustre. The fact Vinagre had to come on in left wing and was our only player to come on says everything you need to know and Nuno knows himself we need players. Attacking players are what we need right now, we have enough options at the back currently but we definitely need at least one forward and a midfielder too.

Reaction to the Result

A very disappointing draw. We were well on top and enjoyed most of the possession but clear-cut chances were few and far between. We did have chances to score a winner but for a couple of great saves we would have won this game. The squad is thread-bare at the moment and we had nothing on the bench that could have changed the game.

Man of the Match

Newcastle had prepared well to nullify the threat from Adama Traore. He had some good moments but didn’t really see enough of the ball in wide positions. Neto did well once more, but having beat his man the final ball in is poor too often. Man of the match for me was Moutinho. He kept pushing us forward and when Traore was smothered would switch play down the left.

Something to Improve

We are slow starters and chasing games too often. Nuno will know this, but we need to bring in some fresh players who will change this on the pitch and put some pressure on the regular starters. We are drawing too many games, yet we are still in a better place than we were this time last season. Let’s see if the owners really are serious about pushing forward now.

Russ Evers (Hatherton Wolves)

Reaction to the Result

Not a million miles away but not close enough to earn a win despite a couple of more than good chances, both saved by their keeper. A few people not at it 100per cent again and we badly missed Jota, and for the first time, Boly. Unfortunately, we did not have many options from the bench – Vinagre for Neto seemed like a replacement option which unfortunately brought no reward. But this was another Premier league game without a defeat and compared to five or six years ago should be seen in context.

Man of the Match

Everyone huffed and puffed but no-one really stood out. We have played better and lost, so another point on the board.

Something to Improve

Options from the bench and again being more clinical when it matters.
