After Nuno Espirito Santo's team secured a top-half finish with a 2-1 win at Vicarage Road, another victory against Fulham this weekend would seem them move one step closer to finishing in seventh place.

If Manchester City then win the FA Cup final against the Hornets next month, Wolves will welcome European football to Molineux for the first time since the 1980/81 season.

Striker Jimenez, who scored his 13th goal of the league campaign to become Wolves' top scorer in a top-flight season since John Richards in the aforementioned campaign, said it had been a wonderful season for the team.

"It would be a very great achievement," he said of possible European football. "At the beginning of the season all the people thought we'd fight to stay in the Premier League.

"Now we are making good things and one game away to stay in seventh, so that makes us confident for the next match and it would be amazing if we can go to the Europa League.

"There's a possibility if we stay in seventh, but (there is still) the final of the cup to play.

"This is a very good season for us, we're very happy.

"Maybe we need more players (next season), there might be some more matches. It's up to the coach to think about it and we'll see."

Jimenez attracted criticism from Watford striker Troy Deeney after wearing a mask to celebrate scoring during Wolves' FA Cup semi-final defeat at Wembley.

Deeney backed up his opinions in his pre-match programme notes on Saturday.

But Jimenez brushed it off, saying: "I hear everything he said and it's no problem, this is football, sometimes you win and lose.

"When you score you can do whatever you want. I don't know if we're going to win or lose, I just did it.

"It's something from Mexico, I'm happy with it.

“I was in the right place to score (on Saturday). I had one chance but I have my revenge and I score.

"I brought the mask but – I don't know why – the people on the bench didn't give it to me. They didn't remember.

"I didn't score since the last time we played against Watford, that's why I didn't do it before (Saturday)."
