Morgan Gibbs-White celebrated his 17th birthday in perfect style today – by signing his first professional contract at Wolves.

The Stafford-born youngster became one of Wolves' youngest-ever players earlier this month when he made his debut in the FA Cup third-round victory at Stoke.

And after reflecting on a whirlwind few weeks after signing his first professional contract, he admitted: "It hasn't sunk in yet!"

The academy graduate has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, and added: "I'm buzzing to have signed my first professional contract," he says.

"The club were keen to get it all sorted out for my 17th birthday and I'm delighted to get it done.

"What has happened over these last few weeks still hasn't sunk in properly.

"I can't really put into words how good it feels.

"The gaffer has just told me to keep my head down and keep working and looking to improve. The only way to get more opportunities is if I do keep working hard and keep pushing.

"The next stepping stone for me is to try and maintain my place in the squad and then see if I can get a place in the starting eleven. The gaffer has been brilliant with all of us.

"All of the under-23s now know they have a chance because the gaffer has shown that if you are good enough then he will throw you in."

"He has shown that already,"

Recalling his debut at Stoke, Gibbs-White said: "I was nervous before the game. Then when the gaffer came and told me to get changed and be ready to come on my heart started racing!

"As soon as I got on the pitch I was able to block everything out and just concentrate on the game.

"I think within seconds I was flying into a challenge with Joe Allen and just felt it was like a normal game.

"Coming up against a player like Glen Johnson – it was almost like it didn't feel right! And Shaqiri down that side as well. But it was great experience, and despite coming up against players of that quality, I had to believe I could do something."

Elswhere, long-term Wolves target Ben Marshall's Blackburn future has been cast into doubt after boss Owen Coyle revealed the winger was no longer in his plans.

Talks between Wolves and Rovers are understood to be ongoing but, contrary to some reports, no deal appears imminent.

Coyle admitted Marshall won't be part of his first-team plans for the immediate future.

"I spoke to Ben and he does not come in to my thinking," the Rovers boss told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"This is a simple situation for me... That will remain the case until such times as Ben Marshall is either transferred to another club that pays the fee that the owners deem Ben Marshall to be worth, or the window closes."
