Walsall hopeful of Ross Tierney FA Cup boost
Walsall boss Mat Sadler hopes Ross Tierney could return from his hamstring injury in time to face Alfreton Town in the FA Cup.

Tierney missed Walsall’s 1-0 defeat against Harrogate on Saturday, and was absent once again in the midweek 3-2 defeat at Shrewsbury Town.
The midfielder will face a race to be fit for the next fixture against Forest Green, although Sadler admits a potential return for the FA Cup tie at Alfreton appears more likely.
“We’re not sure about Forest Green. It might be a race for that one and he is probably more likely for Alfreton,” Sadler revealed.
“It’s a couple of weeks rather than a couple of months, but we need to be careful to make sure that it doesn’t turn into that, which is why I don’t want to risk him.”
Joe Riley hobbled off inside the opening 10 minutes against Harrogate, and left the stadium on crutches. Walsall are yet to receive scan results, although Sadler is fearful he could be braced for a spell on the sidelines.
