Caolan Lavery: Walsall have stomach for fight

Caolan Lavery insists the Walsall players are still fighting for each other and the club as they bid to get out of their slump.

The Saddlers find themselves at the wrong end of the table having failed to accrue any wins in Brian Dutton’s first eight games as manager and picking up only one win in 15 League Two games.

With crunch fixtures against the bottom two clubs Southend and Grimsby coming next week Walsall will likely need to find a win sooner rather than later.

“We see each other on a daily basis and we’re all willing and wanting to put what the manager is saying to us in place,” Lavery said.

“It’s easy for everyone to see that the football side of it has been nicer on the eyes but now we need to make it nice football with results because that’s what our business is all about.

“We’re all fighting and want to put things right together. We’re all fighting and still together. A little bit would go a long way, that first three points will definitely help us and give us the confidence that what we’re doing is working.

“We’ve had a few heartbreak stories but we don’t want to be that team, we don’t want to use those excuses.”
