Winger Wes McDonald says the win over Tranmere has to kick-start both his and Walsall’s season.

The Saddlers ended a six-match winless run by securing victory at Prenton Park on Saturday.

McDonald was key to that success with the forward scoring one and grabbing an assist in the 3-1 win.

And with the team sitting just four points outside the play-offs, he says both he and the team now have to build on that display.

“We know what we’re capable of and the quality we have in the dressing room,” he said.

“We showed what we are about against Tranmere and we have to build on that now. We have to believe and keep showing what we can do.

“For me personally, it’s been a slow start in terms of stats and getting numbers on the board.

“But I continue working. At Tranmere I got some numbers on the board and I’m looking to push on now.

“In training we work a lot on balls coming in from wide areas. I need to get into the right areas and put it in.”
