The Cabrini brand – which is owned by JD Sports – proved a major source of frustration for Saddlers fans when it failed to supply the 2016/17 kit in time for the season opener against AFC Wimbledon.

That has led to the Walsall hierarchy exercising their right to end their agreement a year early with Errea set to produce the club's kit and training gear for the next three seasons.

The Italian firm previously produced Saddlers shirts between 1997 and 1999 and currently provides kits to Norwich, MK Dons, as well as Serie A side Parma and the Icelandic national team.

Errea’s Fabrizio Taddei said: “We are delighted to be the new Technical Sponsor of Walsall FC.

“To be partnered with such a historic club is always a pleasure and we look forward to being part of the 130th anniversary celebrations, next year.

“We hope that the kits we produce together will be well received by all the fans and that the next three seasons will be successful both on and off the pitch.”

Walsall secretary Dan Mole said: "We're delighted to have agreed a three-year contract with Errea.

“Errea are a brand steeped in football history. They have supplied kit to Walsall FC before and we are only too happy to renew our acquaintance with the brand.

“Dealing with them has been a breath of fresh air.

“We were able to sit down with Fabrizio and his team to discuss our thoughts in terms of kit and training wear design and we are really pleased at the way in which they have brought our ideas to life.

"The kit will be on sale in a matter of days, which is really important to us. We have had issues with late delivery in recent seasons, so it’s great to be able to launch and have available our new kit in time for the summer holidays.”
