The Saddlers travel to take on Barnsley on Saturday on the back of three straight wins in League One.

Shrewsbury Town, Fleetwood and Port Vale have all been swept aside with those victories coming on the back of the 4-0 loss Jon Whitney's side suffered at Bradford City on April 23.

And Forde believes the club's players, staff and fans deserve credit for the way have responded to that loss at Valley Parade.

The Irishman said: "We have responded really well. We knew going into the Shrewsbury game we needed a big performance.

"We did it and that set us up for Fleetwood and Port Vale. Every player, every fan, everyone involved should be proud of those performances and how we have finished the season.

"Now we are fully focused on the play-offs. If we play like we have in our last three games then we are in with a great chance."

The 5-0 victory at Port Vale also saw Tom Bradshaw net his 20th goal of the campaign.

The Welshman has now hit the magic mark in both his seasons at the Banks's Stadium, since being snapped up from Shrewsbury.

Now the forward will be hoping to extend that total further, with Forde believing his team-mate has proved a lot of people wrong this season.

He added: "Tom has been excellent in his time at the club – fair play to him. A lot of people questioned whether he could do it again after scoring 20 goals last season.

"But he is a confident boy and has always backed his own ability. He has proved all of his critics wrong. We were all delighted to see him do it again."
