League leaders Atherton almost took the lead after 5 minutes. Ben Hardcastle crossed to Connor Gaul and his downward header was superbly saved by the feet of Curtis Pond.

Chasetown came into the game strongly and both Tom Hill, against the post, and Danny Cocks, into the side netting, came close to giving the visitors the lead.

Just before the break, home centre half Ian Rowlands blocked a Tom Hill shot, then Greg Hartley rushed out sharply to deny Danny Cocks from tapping in the rebound.

The league leaders were ahead inside the first minute of the second half. James Kirby broke quickly and drove it past Pond.

Chasetown thought they were level immediately. Tom Hill headed past Hartley but was adjudged offside.

Colls doubled their advantage with a Gaul cross to the back post where Kirby added his second goal back across the keeper.

Hill forced a great save in the final seconds.
