Withdrawal of Bus Service 28

Residents will want to know if there had been any attempts to retain the 28 Bus service as it served Wednesfield previous to the recent changes

I've contacted both National Express and Centro. Here is the latest response I've received from Centro

As you are aware National Express West Midlands (NXWM) operate bus service 28 on a commercial basis and neither Centro, nor any other public body, has any jurisdiction over the day to day operation, or any commercial decisions NXWM take to amend or withdraw bus services they provide. I can confirm that bus service 69 has now replaced bus service 28 (which has been withdrawn completely) on the Prestwood Road West and Wood End section of the route. Bus Service 69 will continue to provide a 30 minute frequency of service during the day, Monday to Saturday, as per service 28, and provide a new link to Walsall.

The West Midlands Combined Authority continue to subsidise evening journeys for bus service 28E, operated by Arriva Midlands North. Regrettably, there is no direct bus service from Prestwood Road West to Willenhall. Therefore your constituents now need to alight at New Invention to connect with bus service 41 (operating to a 20 minute frequency of service during the day) in order to reach Willenhall."
