M6 crash closes lanes near Walsall

A crash on the M6 has caused delays for motorists on the last weekend before Christmas.

Multiple vehicles were involved in the collision which initially shut three lanes southbound between junctions 10 between Wolverhampton and Walsall and 10a for the M54.

Its believed the incident happened at around 12.30pm.

Highways England confirmed on Twitter that three lanes were closed but shortly afterwards said this was reduced to only one lane closure.

Traffic officers and police were due on the scene.

Images show a black Volkswagen car with its bumper hanging off and facing the wrong way down the motorway after the collision.

Highways England confirmed that all lanes on the stretch of road re-opened by 1.50pm.
