West Midlands Metro services between Wolverhampton St Georges and The Royal were unable to run this morning after a signal problem.

And rush hour drivers were disrupted at the Bilston Road roundabout after the traffic lights stopped working.

West Midlands Metro said on Twitter that tram tickets were being accepted on West Midlands railway trains and on the number 79 bus.

It said: "Service update: due to a signal failure, trams are unable to run between Wolverhampton St Georges and The Royal.

"Tram tickets and passes are being accepted on West Midlands railway trains between Wolverhampton and Birmingham and on the NX79 bus."

Disruption on the Metro had eased by around 9am.
