Mike Goth, 71, has raised almost £300 to be split between Acorn Children's Hospice, Compton Care, Midlands Air Ambulance and Wolverhampton Coronary Aftercare, after having his hair, moustache and beard shaved on Wednesday at Jutz Cutz Barbers in Wombourne.

He is a member of City of Wolverhampton and District Cribbage League, which raises funds for charity each year.

Mr Goth had grown his hair for six months and his beard for about 20 years, but decided to get the chop for good causes.

The former teacher said: "When my partner had a massive heart attack, a gentleman came around from Wolverhampton Coronary Aftercare and was making sure everybody had visitors and was chatting to us and made us laugh.

"This year we're aiming to raise £5,000 for charity and at the moment we're well on our way.

"I'd been growing my hair for about six months and my beard for about 20 years.

"It feels strange at the moment, but it's going to grow back.

"My beard grows quickly and I get a sandpaper face which my partner would complain about so that's why I grew a beard."
