Gunshots fired in Wolverhampton road

Police closed a busy Wolverhampton road after shots were fired nearby.

Finchfield Road, near Bantock Park, was closed after shots were fired just after midnight on Saturday morning.

It is not believed anyone was injured in the incident, but a damaged car was found at the scene.

Pictures from the scene show a police cordon near to a bus stop on the road.

Witnesses said the road was still closed at 7.30am.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police have sealed off an area of Finchfield Road, Wolverhampton, after shots were fired just after midnight this morning.

"Several men were heard arguing and upon police arrival, a car was found damaged.

"No-one is thought to have been injured and forensic examinations are on-going.

"Officers will be conducting increased patrols in the area today."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 39 of December 29.
