The Light Cinema has started showing the family blockbuster, A Dog’s Way Home, starring Kimi Alexander and Farrah Aviva, which follows the journey of a dog’s 400-mile trip home after becoming separated from her owner.

The cinema is taking the film as an opportunity to highlight some cases of real dogs in the UK that are missing in the hope that it can help reunite them with their distressed families.

In partnership with DogLost UK, it has taken dogs currently missing from their home and will show their photos and stories before each showing of A Dog’s Way Home.

The stories, which are just a handful of the 116,000 dogs currently listed as lost or stolen on the DogLost website, include that of Lily from Warwickshire. Lily, a seven-year old Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel has been missing since March 2017.

Despite coming up to the two-year anniversary, her family have not given up their search.

Lily is feared stolen after she went missing from a secure garden and there was no sign of her despite immediate searches of the local area.

Emmett Polland, business manager at The Light Cinema in Walsall, said: "We were approached by DogLost with an opportunity we couldn't turn down.

"The film is a great chance to raise awareness of lost and stolen dogs, of which there are thousands in the UK, and if we can help to reunite just one of them, then it's worthwhile.

"We were able to create a trailer that will hopefully also help to educate people on what support is out there if they find a dog or have concerns about a dog that they think could be stolen."
