The RSPCA is investigating after a man found the 'skinny' and scared cat dumped in a box on the canal towpath last Monday.

RSPCA animal collection officer Catherine Strawford went to collect the frightened feline and said: "The cat was very lethargic and quite skinny. She was extremely nervous which is understandable considering how she’d been abandoned.

“She’s a young, female tabby cat with no microchip and no collar.”

The tabby - now named Milly - was taken to RSPCA Newbrook Farm Animal Hospital for a health check and is now being cared for by staff at the charity's Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch.

Office Strawford added: "Thankfully she wasn’t injured and doesn’t seem too worse for wear but I’m extremely concerned that someone has made the decision to abandon her by the side of the canal."

Anyone with information is urged to call the appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
