Rise in vehicle thefts across Cheslyn Hay and Great Wyrley

Police have issued a warning after a spike in vehicle thefts across Cheslyn Hay and Great Wyrley.

Staffordshire Police say there has been a recent increase in thefts from vehicles and of vehicles themselves from the two areas.

Officers are now reminding people to make sure all valuables are removed from cars, as well as advising owners to make sure their cars and locked and windows shut.

Other advice includes parking cars in garages or under street lighting, and keeping keys in a safe place.

Mark Griffiths, a senior officer assistant at Staffordshire Police, said: "There has been a recent spike in theft from vehicles and theft of vehicles in the Cheslyn Hay and Great Wyrley area.

"Please ensure you remove all valuables, shut windows and lock doors and park car in garage or under street lighting where possible.

" Also, keep keys in safe place that is not easily accessible."
