Officers from Cannock and Rugeley attended the scene in Birches Valley - which is currently closed - on Saturday after reports of a gathering taking place.

They discovered a number of youths at the location having "what appeared to be" a party involving numerous bottles of alcohol.

A spokesman from Cannock Police said: "Some made off into the woods however a number were located and due to their age, their parents are now in receipt of a £200 fine for breaching Covid regulations.

"If your child is going out then please ask them where they are and remind them we are in a national lockdown and that drinking underage is illegal, so is purchasing it on their behalf."

The popular outdoor activity site is currently closed due to the current lockdown restrictions to curb the spread of the pandemic.
