Teenager, 15, seriously injured after being hit by car in West Bromwich

A teenager has suffered a serious head injury after being hit by a car in the Black Country.

Emergency services were called to Walsall Road, in West Bromwich, just after 6pm on Friday night.

The 15-year-old girl was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury.

She remained in hospital on Saturday afternoon.

A man arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving at the scene has been released pending further enquiries.

West Midlands Police officers have launched an investigation and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "We are investigating after a teenager was hit by a car on Walsall Road, West Bromwich, just after 6pm on Friday night.

"The 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, where she remains today.

"A 28-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving at the scene, has been released pending further enquiries.

"Enquiries continue and anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police, is urged to contact us."
