Two men taken to hospital after Smethwick assault

Two people were taken to hospital after reports of an assault in Smethwick today.

Emergency services were called to Bearwood Road at around 9am.

Police say they were called to the street following reports of a fight between two men after what is believed to be a "road rage incident".

Two men were treated by paramedics for injuries not believed to be serious. They were taken to hospital for further assessment.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police were called to Bearwood Road, Smethwick at 9am on Monday morning, following reports of a fight between two men after what is believed to be a road rage incident.

"The men, aged 33 and 52, were taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which are not believed to be life changing.

"Investigations are ongoing."

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.08am to reports of an assault on Bearwood Road, Smethwick. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"On arrival crews discovered two patients, both males. They were both treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to hospital for further assessment."
