£150k cannabis factory found during Christmas Eve raid

A large cannabis factory cultivating a crop thought to be worth £150,000 was discovered during a dawn raid on Christmas Eve.

The 150 plants were found at a property in Montague Road, in Smethwick

Officers raided a house in Montague Road, in Smethwick, at around 4.45am on Monday and discovered up 150 cannabis plants.

The raid came after a man was seen by a neighbour to smash a window and carry a large cannabis plant out of the house.

West Midlands Police's cannabis team said on Twitter: "Just like Santa. We can get in whatever so don’t worry #ChristmasCops."

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "West Midlands Police Cannabis Team visited an address in Montague Road , Smethwick at 4.45am on Monday morning, after a neighbour reported seeing a man smashing a window and carrying a large cannabis plant out of the house.

"Up to 150 cannabis plants were seized by police."
